The family home on this site was burned to the ground on October 9th 2017 in the Nuns fire, which enveloped much of north & eastern Santa Rosa with enormous devastation to thousands of structures. At the time, this home was about 2 weeks from the completion of a substantial remodel, all of which was lost. Shortly after recovering from the shock of the loss of their home, the owners lost no time in beginning to plan again for the rebuilding of the house with their architect and engineers.

We made comprehensive recommendations for a Net Zero Energy project, including site-work, energy management, materials recommendations, and structural systems optimization. The Net Zero Energy goals were targeted to comply with participation in the Advanced Energy Rebuild Program through Sonoma Clean Power and PG&E.

  • Net-Zero Energy Fire Rebuild

  • Extremely air tight at 0.8 ACH50

  • High efficiency ducted heat pump HVAC and CO2 heat pump DHW heater

  • Focus on fire resiliency, durability + indoor air quality

  • Energy efficient design with high R values
